Ground and Air Medical Transport Training

Course Description: The course aims to train both civilians and military staff on the principles of ground and air transport. Medical evacuation, or Medevac, is the transportation of seriously ill patients by air. This three-day course serves as a standard course to cover all aspects of becoming medical crew on board rotary wing emergency service helicopters and ground transport.

- Aviation awareness
- Crew Resource Management (Human Factors)
- Radio communications
- Navigation
- Helicopter emergencies
- Safety in and around helicopters
- Ground handling
- Site selection
-  Physiological changes at altitude and effects on patient care
- Pre-hospital emergency care
- Advanced human factors
- Disaster medicine.

The African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM), represents a broad coalition of national societies, organisations, and individuals from over 40 countries dedicated to securing high-quality emergency care across Africa.



The Emergency Medicine Society of Ghana is a collaborative of Emergency Physicians, Emergency Nurses and Emergency Medical Technicians in Ghana. The Society is also open to all from various disciplines and fields both local and international interested in Emergency Care in Ghana.
